Note
A hereditary (autosomal dominant) type of hemangioma that occurs predominantly in children from birth through 5 years of age but may occur in adulthood. Some cases have also been reported in the mother during pregnancy. The lesions occur typically on the neck, shoulders, and trunk and appear histologically in a 'cannonball' distribution of rounded nodules or tufts of capillary-sized vessels in the dermis, with lymphatic vessels present at the periphery. Initial growth is slow and progressive, after which it tends to remain stable in size, although regression has been reported in some cases. Multiple tufted angioma may be associated with KASABACH-MERRITT SYNDROME. OMIM: 607859
