Cerastes genus includes Saharan sand viper (Cerastes vipera) and horned desert viper (Cerastes cerastes). A desert sidewinder Crotalus cerastes also has horny scale over its eyes but is a species in sister subfamily Crotalinae and found in Southwest American desert.
