OPPORTUNISTIC INFECTIONS
with the soil fungus
FUSARIUM
. Typically the infection is limited to the nail plate (
ONYCHOMYCOSIS
). The infection can however become systemic especially in an
IMMUNOCOMPROMISED HOST
(e.g.,
NEUTROPENIA
) and results in cutaneous and subcutaneous lesions, fever,

, and pulmonary infections.
