Scope Note
Technique in which endogenous ENVELOPE PROTEINS have been replaced by use of a chimeric vector. For instance a viral vector with SIMIAN IMMUNODEFICIENCY VIRUS can be coated with the VIRAL ENVELOPE PROTEINS from Vesicular stomatitus virus. Use of these types of vectors are useful in developing NEUTRALIZATION TESTS by enabling infection of almost universal set of host cells.
