Scope Note
A serotonin receptor subtype found in the GLOBUS PALLIDUS; HIPPOCAMPUS; PUTAMEN; SUBSTANTIA NIGRA; and TRIGEMINAL NUCLEUS, SPINAL that can modulate the release of CALCITONIN GENE-RELATED PEPTIDE from these nerves. Unlike 5-HT1B RECEPTORS, the activation of 5-HT1F receptors does not cause VASOCONSTRICTION. 5-HT1F receptor antagonists are used for the treatment of MIGRAINE.
